Ur(sitting)ine bedbugs
When Mahnaz first moved here last year, she insisted that the wooden subway benches were teeming with germs and other unthinkables. I didn’t think much more of it until this came out last week about bedbugs in two stations.
The MTA ick factor was further heightened today as I stepped into the M60 bus behind a woman who had clearly soiled herself. She proceeded to sit down on one of the bus seats (which are cloth and absorbent) for just one stop. Before she had even exited the bus, a guy sat down in the seat where she had been sitting.
Though it’s pretty gross, I’ll continue to sit in these seats. The 10-second-rule for snacks that fall on any seats, however, is officially retired.
